Metallic spin-liquid behavior of the geometrically frustrated Kondo lattice.
Strongly frustrated magnetism of the metallic pyrochlore oxide Pr2Ir2O7 has been revealed by single crystal study. While Pr 4f moments have an antiferromagnetic RKKY interaction energy scale of /T*/ = 20 K mediated by Ir 5d-conduction electrons, no magnetic long-range order is found except for partial spin freezing at 120 mK. Instead, the Kondo effect, including a lnT dependence in the resistiv...
متن کاملLuttinger liquid behavior in metallic carbon nanotubes
Coulomb interaction effects have pronounced consequences in carbon nanotubes due to their 1D nature. In particular, correlations imply the breakdown of Fermi liquid theory and typically lead to Luttinger liquid behavior characterized by pronounced power-law suppression of the transport current and the density of states, and spin-charge separation. This paper provides a review of the current und...
متن کاملSpin-liquid behavior in electronic griffiths phases.
We examine the interplay of the Kondo effect and the RKKY interactions in electronic Griffiths phases using extended dynamical mean-field theory methods. We find that sub-Ohmic dissipation is generated for sufficiently strong disorder, leading to the suppression of Kondo screening on a finite fraction of spins, and giving rise to universal spin-liquid behavior.
متن کاملDiamond-Like Carbon film from Liquid Gas on Metallic Substrates
Liquid gas was used to produce DLC films on Cu, Al and steel substrates by DC plasma technique. The absorption in IR reflectance indicates, grown films are DLC. By deconvolution of room temperature UVvisible spectra of the films grown at 50 mtorr and 200C, in addition to the spectra lines reported for CL, PL, PLC and ESR, some new spectra lines were obtained. We also, have seen exciton absorpti...
متن کاملLow-energy behavior of spin-liquid electron spectral functions
We calculate the electron spectral function for a spin-liquid with a spinon Fermi surface and a Dirac spin-liquid. Calculations are based upon the slave-rotor mean-field theory. We consider the effect of gauge fluctuations using a simple model and find the behavior is not strongly modified. The results, distinct from conventional Mott insulator or band theory predictions, suggest that measuring...
